Attracting and supporting donors
Almost 80 percent of our funding comes from donations. The majority of every donation goes directly into our program and project work, benefiting children and their families.
The Marketing & Fundraising department develops campaigns and strategies for attracting and retaining donors. The donation management team supports donors through a wide variety of channels and provides information about our projects.
We use creative and effective ways to inspire donors, companies, and cooperation partners to support our vision. In addition, we attach great importance to maintaining and building long-term relationships with our supporters.

Planning and coordinating projects
Project work is at the heart of Kindernothilfe. We are active in many countries around the world with projects aimed at improving the living conditions of children and their families in the long term. Our employees work closely with our local partner organizations and support the implementation of the projects.
Our work is based on four priorities of the Convention on the Rights of the Child: the right to participation, protection from economic exploitation, the right to education, and protection from violence. By developing global program strategies, we respond to the key challenges of our time from the perspective of these priorities. They provide a global framework for action that links key areas of work such as project funding, capacity building, fundraising, and public relations.

Communicating our vision externally
The press and communications department plays a central role in making our vision and our work known to a broad public. Here, we design and manage all of the organization's external communications. Our tasks include planning and implementing media campaigns, maintaining contacts with media representatives, and writing press releases, reports, and articles. We also use our social media channels to provide information about the latest developments and successes of our work. We work closely with multipliers to spread our messages even further. In addition, we regularly organize events to bring our vision and work closer to an interested audience and to facilitate dialogue between different interest groups.

As a politically active organization, Kindernothilfe's advocacy work is committed to our vision: Every child has a voice – and it is heard!
Through our own campaigns and alliances, we influence German and international political actors to stand up for the interests of children and young people. We seek dialogue with politicians to draw attention to social problems and support them in their decision-making or in the formulation of draft legislation. The aim of our advocacy work is to influence political, economic, and social conditions and thus help shape the realization of children's rights.

Promoting child protection
To strengthen child protection, we advise daycare centers, schools, associations, and other organizations. Children and young people have a right to protection from violence—both internationally and in Germany. Our Training & Consulting team conducts online and in-person workshops on topics such as violence among children, internet safety , and trauma among refugee children. Our focus is on counselling to develop customized child protection concepts. Therefore, we involve all relevant stakeholders, including parents and children.
Volunteers play an important role in our work in Germany. The Volunteering & Engagement team works with many volunteers to organize various activities, from large events to small initiatives that come from the heart.

The administration department ensures that all internal processes run smoothly.
The Finance & Controlling department focuses on financial and asset accounting as well as donation management. Our project controlling team is responsible for ensuring that funds are used appropriately and that our local partners, projects, and coordination structures comply with accounting standards.
Our IT department ensures the smooth operation of all systems and applications relevant to us.
In the Human Resources department, the focus is on our employees. This is also where our recruiting, personnel development, and human resources management are based.
